She Sparkles and Shines: Allison Norfleet Bruenger
WHEN DID YOU FIRST START CREATING ART?
Very Young. Since I can remember.
WHAT WAS THE FIRST KIND OF WORK YOU CREATED?
Drawings, figurative. Love to draw clothing.
DO YOU THINK IT TAKES INNATE TALENT TO BE AN ARTIST IN TODAY’S CLIMATE?
I think if you have a desire to create there is a place for you.
DO YOU THINK IT’S NECESSARY TO HAVE ACADEMIC TRAINING TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN TODAY’S ART MARKET?
No, there are so many venues to learn and to create that if you want to learn there a place for you. You can attend a 4 year college to following video series on You Tube. You have options to home in your creativity.
THERE HAVE BEEN CLAIMS WITHIN THE ART WORLD THAT ART HAS TO BE DISTURBING, ASK A QUESTION, OR PROJECT CONCEPTS OF THE FUTURE TO BE “GOOD” ART. DO YOU THINK THIS IS ACCURATE?
No. Art is in the eye of the beholder. Art reaches people at so many levels it is hard to claim what is “Good Art”.
DO YOU FEEL THAT IT IS ENOUGH TO CREATE A SENSE OF POSITIVITY WITHIN THE VIEWER TO SUCCEED AS AN ARTIST?
I’m not sure for some art is not created to produce a sense of positivity. Some are creates sadness, it might bring up feeling of pain or sadness to make that person Think and reflect and possibly Change their direction in life hopeful to the positive.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON FORMAL EDUCATION IN ART? HOW DO YOU THINK THAT IMPACTS YOUR WORK? HOW DO YOU THINK THAT IMPACTS YOUR CAREER?
Formal education was a big part of my path. My teachers within both of my degrees help to shape me in my path of learning to work with different materials and techniques. I was blessed to have teachers who did not try to fit me into a set traditional style and let me bring my creativity need to the table so I can learn the craft and still say true my concepts.
